Interstate Batteries of Utah Recognized as Best in Class

July 15, 2008

Dallas, Texas—Interstate Batteries recently announced during its biennial convention held in Washington, DC, that IBS of Utah Distributor Stan Corbridge won the coveted Best in Class award—a prestigious honor among the international Interstate Battery System. This elite award was given to only three of Interstate’s 300 distributors serving 200,000 accounts throughout North America, with Mr. Corbridge excelling in Specialty Products category.

Carlos Sepulveda, President & CEO of Interstate Batteries, said, “A ‘Best In Class’ distributorship is exactly that—the BEST! For a distributorship to achieve this recognition, they have to work very hard and work very smart as the battery business has gotten increasingly complex and challenging. Congratulations to Brandon Shank and his excellent team on gaining this outstanding recognition!”

Mr. Corbridge has owned Interstate Battery System of Utah since 1972, and today is located in Woods Cross at 786 South 950 West, where he has been since 1985. They service over 1400 Interstate customers in 22 counties throughout Utah and realize the importance of developing and refining business programs in order to continue their success. With that in mind, they have found innovative ways to promote brand awareness among consumers, and have achieved an extremely high level of awareness in the local market.

Interstate founder John Searcy was Mr. Corbridge’s first contact with Interstate, and after having dinner with him, Mr. Corbridge says he knew this was the right business for him, “We got into the system because we saw it as one that was progressing and a good opportunity, we had no idea how good it would be for us,” he said.

When they started their business, they operated out of their home, Mr. Corbridge’s wife answered the phones and they used storage units for inventory. “Within the first year our distributorship saw 903% growth and today we have 19 employees, six route trucks and three hot shot vehicles,” said Mr. Corbridge. “My business philosophy is to surround myself with good people, and be honest and fair. I want dealers to feel like the most important thing is taking care of them when doing business.”

Mr. Corbridge attributes the success of sustaining growth year after year to the quality of service and products his dealers provide to their customers.
